After-School Art Classes for Grades K-8
January 12 - March 27 (11 Weeks)
Visualize the Rhythm - Art Inspired by Music


Music is a part of our daily lives, whether it is from our own heritage, from cultures around the world, or from times past or present. This quarter Bad Dog Arts will explore the union of music and visual art. Students will explore creating artwork inspired by music, create their own basic instruments to play, and to share their art and music in a variety of community outreach projects.



Art Classes at Bad Dog Arts

Silly Sing-Along (A)
Monday 4:00 - 6:00pm • Grades K-1 • $165
January 12 - March 23 (Yes, we will have class on January 19 and February 16)

Ever see a sock puppet sing a show tune?  Or try to paint your way around the tongue-twisting silly songs of Shel Silverstein?  You will!  In this class, music and art will be brought together in a fun, colorful, and hilarious ways that will have you singing and laughing all the way home.

Play With Rhythm
Tuesday 4:00 – 6:00pm • Grades 4-5 • $165
January 13 - March 24

Make art inspired by music! Explore rhythm, patterns, and repetition as you draw and paint to music. You will also learn how to make your own instruments. Drums, tambourines, and flutes are all instruments you can make yourself from both found objects and clay.

Soundscapes
Wednesday 4:00 – 6:00pm • Grades 2-3 • $165
January 14 - March 25

What color is rock-n-roll?  What shape is Beethoven? Which is more blue – bluegrass or the blues? Sound affects us in many ways, and its effects have an impact on our mood, and therefore our art.  We will explore and create visual art that represents music, craft an album cover, and turn up the volume by making art that makes sounds.

Find Your Rhythm
Friday 3:00 - 5:00pm • Grades 2-5 • $165
January 16 - March 27
Patterns in visual art create textures for our eyes, while in music the texture created for our ears is called rhythm. We will use the rhythms of music to inspire paintings and sculptures with repeating patterns, and also create rhythm instruments that will get us moving to the music!

*Let us know if your school gets out early on Fridays and you need an early-arrival program before class starts at 3PM.

Have you ever wanted to bake your art, taste your music, or play with your food? We will explore the connections between art, music, and food in this special series presented with artists from Bad Dog Arts and the Mundi Project. We will learn how proportions and measurements relate to many creative projects as we design our own clay shakers, create colorful patterns, and discover the greatest cookie recipe
ever.

January 13 – March 26 • $20 Registration Fee

We will learn how proportions and measurements relate to many creative projects as we design colorful tessellations, create your own flute, and learn the fundamentals of baking.

Winter Studio Information

• Registration fees include all class materials and snacks
• Children will stay on site and will be well supervised at all times.
• Space is limited to 16 participants.
• Child to Adult ratio is 8:1 as a minimum requirement. 
• After registering, you will receive a confirmation e-mail of safety and registration 
     forms. Completed forms must be turned in one week prior to your first day of class. 

Drop Off and Pick Up

Bad Dog Arts: Bring your child between 3:45 - 4:00pm to Bad Dog Arts South West Entrance of the Artspace
Commons Building at 824 South 400 West, Suite B131, Salt Lake City, Utah. Pick up is the same.

Mountain View / Glendale Community Learning Center:
1388 S Navajo St., Salt Lake City, UT
(Between Mountain View Elementary and Glendale Middle School)


Parents must Sign-In & Sign-Out their child each day.

Cancellation Policy
You may cancel your child's after-school class and/or camp registration up to two weeks prior to the first day. Please e-mail us at info@baddogarts.org. A refund will be issued less a $20 cancellation fee. We are unable to issue refunds after that time. We are also unable to refund for missed days of camp or class.

If you need to transfer your child's registration from one class/camp to another you may do so up to two weeks prior to the start date. A $10 service fee will be charged per child per class/camp at the time of the transfer.


Snacks
Afternoon snacks will be provided for all students. 

Dietary Needs
If your child has strict dietary needs, we will do our best to meet them, however we do 
recommend sending your child with a snack of their own.

Bad Dog Parents!
Fees for children and teen art classes and workshops
may be discounted or waived based on need.
