Summer Art Camps Registration 2020
Bad Dog Arts has a great line up planned this summer. Campers will have lots of unique opportunities to create with all kinds of new concepts, materials and techniques. Kids will build confidence, become better problem solvers, make new friends and most of all have fun!

All Mixed Up • Bad Dog Arts Studio
June 8-12 • Grades 2-6 • 9am-4pm • $280
How many different materials can you think of to make art with? This fun camp is going to be all about exploring the mixing and layering of different artistic mediums! Imagine wood, paint, paper scraps and photographs, in a single piece. Our talented artists will mentor campers on how to express their creativity with a fresh contemporary flair!
Daring and Dazzling Displays, Tracy Aviary Partner Camp
June 8-12 • Grades 3-4 • 9am-4pm • Registration through Tracy Aviary
When it comes to grabbing attention, birds have the tools and the moves to steal the show! In this full-day camp, campers will spend mornings exploring flashy feathers and delightful dances to find out just what all that glam is good for. In the afternoons, campers will be inspired by those bold birds to create amazing works of art with artists from Bad Dog Arts. Drop-off and pick-up are both at Tracy Aviary.
Bee Creative • Bad Dog Arts Studio
June 15-19 • Grades K-2 • 9am – 4pm • $280
We may think that all bees do is buzz around and make honey, but bees in our environment are very important for helping food and flowers grow! This week, we'll learn all about bees, their hives, and the essential jobs they do in making our world great. We explore all aspects of “bee-hood” by creating clay bees, paper honeycombs, building giant flowers for our bee sculptures to visit, and more.
Creative Cardboard • Arts Hub
June 15-19 • Grades 3-5 • 9am – 4pm • $280
One person’s trash is another person’s treasure to create with. The ever presence of cardboard in commercial packaging has it begging for a home outside of the landfill. The unique textures and the durability of cardboard provide artists a vast resource for truly beautiful 2-D and 3-D works of art. Come join us to create awesome stuff with cardboard and foam core! Drop off and pick up at the Arts Hub.
Angels and Aliens • Bad Dog Arts Studio
June 22-26 • Grades 2-4 • 9am – 4pm • $280
Come along as we explore the unknown and extraterrestrial. This camp is designed to be a fun week of artistic exploration of what lies beyond the world we see. Imagine angels made with to sculpted aliens, we will imagine and create worlds beyond the one we live in.
Explore Sewing • Arts Hub
June 22-26 • Grades 5-8 • 9am – 4pm • $280
Acquire the basics of using a sewing machine; learn sewing terms and so much more from two amazing seamstresses. You will make several simple projects such as an art apron, a decorative pillow, and a tote bag. We’ll also explore how to take a boring piece of thrift store clothing and with a few snips, tucks and stitches, it can become your new favorite wardrobe piece. Drop off and pick up at the Arts Hub.
Artsplosians • Bad Dog Arts Studio
June 29-July 2 (4-day camp) • Grades 2-5 • 9am-4pm • $224
Get ready to get messy! In this camp we will explore all kinds of fun ways to make art using unexpected materials with an emphasis on process. From making our own paint to marbling paper and composing sun prints, we will have fun getting experimental with our creations.
Wearable Art • Bad Dog Studio
July 8-12 • Grades 5-8 • 9am-4pm • $280
Do you love to accessorize or make your own wearable stuff? Have you always wanted to learn how to Tie Dye your own T-shirt or make your own beads? Then this camp is for you! Spend the week creating your own amazing wearable treasures. We will explore material use, design, craftsmanship and the beauty of things handmade.
Woodshop • Arts Hub
July 6-10 • Grades 5-8 • 9am – 4pm • $280
Wood is a versatile material that can be used to make objects that are functional or sculptural. We will learn how to safely use tools to cut, drill, saw, join and sand for a multitude of results. We will have access to a woodshop with equipment to allow us to create small treasure boxes, birdhouse and wacky sculptures. Drop off and pick up at the Arts Hub.
Week 6 - July 13-17
Desert Detour • Bad Dog Arts Studio
July 13-17 • Grades 3-5 • $280
A detour is a diversion off the main road. At first glance the desert seems to be desolate place, but take a closer look and you will realize there are many living things that call this land home and have been there for a long time. Explore this spectacular landscape with cave drawings, animal sculptures, and mixed media collages.
Art Savvy Scavengers, Tracy Aviary Partner Camp
July 13-17 • Grades 1-2 • 9am-4pm • Registration through Tracy Aviary
One bird’s trash is another bird’s treasure! In this full-day camp, campers will spend mornings discovering the recycling that goes on in nature, including meeting some feathered members of the planet’s cleanup crew. Campers will then do a bit of scavenging themselves, giving recycled materials new life as incredible works of art under the guidance of artists from Bad Dog Arts. Drop-off and pick-up are both at Tracy Aviary.
Zap! Bam! Pow! • Bad Dog Arts Studio
July 20-23 (4-day camp) • Grades 3-5 • 9am-4pm • $224
Comic Art and Pop Art are very different, but have similar qualities! In the morning we will focus on aspects of comic art, which will include Manga, Anime and Super Heroes. We will learn to draw figures that tell a story full of action, suspense, and style. In the afternoon we will switch gears to create our own 2D and 3D art based on famous Pop Artists. (4-day camp)
“S” is for Seuss • Bad Dog Arts Studio
July 27-31 • K-1 •
Oh, the places you’ll go! Take a journey through the land of art and Dr. Seuss. We will explore different stories each day to spark all kinds of fun and wacky projects. Each day we’ll make oodles of doodles, create outlandish paintings and build cool stuff while learning lots of Seuss-isms
Creative Kitchen - Art and Cooking • Glendale Community
July 27-31 • Grades 4-7 • 9-4pm • $280
From avocados to zest, we’ll explore a variety of ingredients and put them to new and creative use each morning while making our lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll play with a variety of art materials and create colorful food inspired sculptures, paintings, and more. Drop off and pickup at the Glendale CLC.
Play with Your Food - Art and Cooking • Glendale Community
July 27-31 • Grades 2-3 • 9-4pm • $280
From yummy cucumber airplanes to cute cupcakes, this week is all about having fun with your food! Each morning we will create food inspired art that will include character drawings, juicy paintings, veggie puppets, and more. In the afternoons, we will make tasty sculptures, creatures, and pictures with food. Drop off and pickup at the Glendale CLC.
Jewelry Design • Bad Dog Arts Studio
August 3-7 • Grades 6-8 • 9-4pm • $280
Do you love jewelry and love to say, “Yah, I made it myself.” Then this camp is for you! We will spend time exploring design and scale and consider how wearable each material may be. You will learn a wide variety of techniques to create with metal, clay, wire, beads and even fused glass. Create pieces to wear yourself or to give as a gift.
Garden of Creativity • Glendale Community Learning Center
August 3-7 • Grades 3-5 • 9-4pm • $280
Gardens can be peaceful, inspiring and a great place to escape. Spend time outside in the onsite garden to learn about growing flowers and veggies. We will also create garden inspired art such as paintings, wind chimes and birdhouses. Drop off and pickup at Glendale CLC.
General Information (Please Read)
• Child must be AT LEAST 5 years old to attend camp.
• Register your child for the camp grade level that he or she is entering in 2018.
• Registration fees include all camp materials.
• Full-Day Camps run from 9am to 4pm unless otherwise noted.
• Campers attending full-day camps must bring their own lunch and refillable water bottle.
• Bad Dog Arts will provide a morning snack and afternoon snack.
• Children will stay on site and will be well supervised at all times, including lunchtime.
• Space is limited to 16 participants unless otherwise noted.
• After enrolling online, you will receive confirmation e-mail within 48 hours and a request to fill out the online
registration form. We request that forms be completed no later than one week prior to your child’s first
day of camp.
• All artwork will stay on-site at the Bad Dog studio until the last day of camp.
• All camps end with a mini-art exhibit component during the last half hour on Friday. Parents and other family
members are invited to attend and admire the wonderful artwork.
Drop Off and Pick Up
Bring your child to Bad Dog Arts South West Entrance of the Artspace Commons Building at 824 South 400 West, Suite B131, Salt Lake City, Utah. Pick up is the same.
Parents must Sign-In & Sign-Out their child each day.
If you need to cancel your camp registration, email the Programs Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than three weeks prior to the camp start date/time. Let us know your child's name and the camp name and date. A refund, less a cancellation fee, will be issued only if your cancellation request is made at least three weeks prior to the camp date/time. No refunds will be given after that time. Full-day camp session cancellation fee is $50. Short weeks are prorated. We are also unable to refund for missed days of camp.
If you need to transfer your child's registration from one camp to another, you may do so up to two weeks prior to the start date. Email the Programs Coordinator at email@example.com to let us know your child's name and the camp name and date he/she is currently signed up for and the camp name and date you wish to transfer to. A $20 service fee will be charged per child per class/camp. The transfer fee may be paid on the first day of camp.
